ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent police to give police protection and permission to conduct the cultural programme at Kotha Kottai Village Post, Vaniyambadi, Vellore District, on 13.04.2017 in the event of Sri Ponniamman Temple festival, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 04.04.2017. 2.It is the grievance of the petitioner that he has submitted a representation dated 04.04.2017 to the respondent, seeking permission to conduct Cultural Programme at Kotha Kottai Village Post, Vaniyambadi, Vellore District, on 13.04.2017 in the event of Sri Ponniamman Temple festival. However, the respondent has not considered the said representation till date. Hence this writ petition.

3.Though the petitioner sought for permission to conduct "cultural programme", learned counsel for the petitioner restricted the same to the extent of conducting Orchestra, for which, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the respondent has raised no serious objection.

4.In view of the submission so made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, the respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 04.04.2017 and grant permission to the petitioner to conduct Orchestra at Kotha Kottai Village Post, Vaniyambadi, Vellore District, on 13.04.2017 in the event of Sri Ponniamman Temple festival, subject to usual conditions. It is made clear that this Court has not granted any direction to conduct "Adal Padal Nigazhchi / dance programme" in the name of "cultural programme".
