The Tahsildar ..Respondent(s) Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking for issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondents 1 to 4 herein to dispose of the representations dated 15.11.2025 and 17.11.2025 in accordance with the law relating to issue patta to our land in survey No. 218 and survey No. 219 measuring an extent of 1 hectare each or if the Government take steps to acquire the property, appropriate compensation should be allotted to the petitioners.
WP No. 3460 of 2026 Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking for issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondents 1 to 4 herein to dispose of the representations dated 04.11.2025, 06.11.20205 and 07.11.2025 in accordance with the law relating to issue patta to the petitioners land in survey No. 218 measuring an extent of 1 hectare each or if the Government take steps to acquire the property, appropriate compensation should be allotted to the petitioners.
WP No. 3498 of 2026 Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking for issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondents 1 to 4 herein to dispose of the representations dated 10.11.2025 and 04.11.2025 in accordance with the law relating to issue patta to our land in survey No. 218 and No. 221 measuring an extent of 1 hectare each or if the Government take steps to acquire the property, appropriate compensation. Mr.C.Jayaprakash, GA COMMON ORDER These writ petitions have been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents to issue patta for the property morefully described in the respective affidavit filed in support of the respective writ petitions, in favour of the respective petitioners, or in the alternative, pay compensation to them.
2. The petitioners claim that they have been in possession of their respective properties for a long number of years, and that they have been cultivating crops on the said property. In such circumstances, they seek for the grant of patta in their favour for the subject property, or in the alternative, have requested the respondents to grant compensation. The petitioners had given their respective representations to the respondents for the said purpose. Since the said representations have not been considered till date, they have filed these writ petitions.

Mr.C.Jayaprakash, learned Government Advocate, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents, and on instructions, he submits that the respondents have not received any such representation as stated in these writ petitions. He further submits that the subject lands which are claimed to be under the occupation of the petitioners have been classified as 'Meikkal'. Hence, it may not be possible for the respondents to issue patta in favour of the petitioners.
4. However, the learned counsel for the petitioners submits that if issuance of patta is not possible for the respondents, compensation will have to be paid to the petitioners, as the petitioners claim that they have already developed the property by cultivating crops.

No prejudice will be caused to the respondents if they are directed to pass pass final orders on the fresh representation to be submitted by the petitioners, on merits and in accordance with law, after hearing the objections from the neighbouring land owners, and also any other party whom they deem fit to enquire, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. Accordingly, these writ petitions are disposed of in the following manner:- (a) The petitioners are directed to submit a fresh representation to the second respondent seeking for issuance of patta or in the alternative, pay
compensation to them, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. (b) On receipt of such representation from the petitioners, the second respondent shall pass final orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after hearing the objections from the neighbouring land owners as well as any other party whom they deem it fit to enquire, within a period of 12 weeks thereafter. No Costs. W.M.P.Nos.3884, 3927 and 3892 of 2026 are ordered, subject to payment of separate court fee. All other connected writ miscellaneous petitions are closed.
