(Order of the Court was made by R. SUBBIAH,J.) This writ petition is filed for issue of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to issue the caste certificate in prescribed format as in Annexure I for SC/ST candidates of the calling letter of Railway Recruitment Board based upon the community certificate already issued to the petitioner in proceedings in R.Dis.A4/4501/2015 dated 26.11.2015 issued by the respondent that he belongs to Kurumans (ST) community.

The petitioner belongs to Kurumans, Scheduled Tribe Community and he was issued with a community certificate that he belongs to the said community by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Tirupattur on 26.11.2015 based on the fact that all his family members were issued with such community certificates. Thereafter, the petitioner preferred an application in January, 2016 to the Railway Recruitment Board, Chennai for recruitment to the post of Station Master under the category reserved for ST community. He appeared for the written examination and was selected for the said post . Subsequently, the petitioner was called for certificate verification on 07.09.2017 and at that time, he was asked to produce caste certificate in the prescribed format as in Annexure I for SC/ST candidates, as per the call letter dated 12.08.2017. In this regard, the petitioner preferred an application on 06.11.2017 to the respondent requesting him to issue caste certificate in the prescribed format based on the certificate already issued to him. However, no steps were taken. Hence, the present writ petition.

When the writ petition came up on 09.01.2018, the learned Additional Government Pleader entered appearance for the respondent and took notice on their behalf. This Court directed the learned Additional Government Pleader to issue the caste certificate as prayed for by the petitioner in the prescribed format and report the same to this Court. 4.
Today, when the writ petition is taken up, it is submitted by the learned Additional Government Pleader that caste certificate in the prescribed format, as sought by the petitioner, has been issued.

Since the certificate sought by the petitioner has been issued, nothing further survives in the writ petition. Hence, the same is closed. No costs.
