Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to call for the records of the impugned notification issued by the second Respondent and published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette as Notification No.VI(2)/445(d)/2011 dated 08.09.2011 and quash the same and to direct the respondents to allot Ward Nos.151 and 153 to the general category.

In this writ petition, the reservation of wards 151 and 153 for women in the elections by a notification dated 08.09.2011 is challenged.

2.The learned counsel for the Petitioner did not log in at the hearing on 02.12.2020 and the case was adjourned to today to enable his appearance. Once again there is no appearance for the Petitioner. The learned counsel, Mr.K.Raja Srinivas, is present for the second Respondent and the learned Government Advocate, Ms.R.J.Radhika, is present for the first Respondent.

3. The learned counsel for the second Respondent submits that nothing survives for adjudication in this writ petition because it pertains to the reservation of two wards for women pursuant to the notification dated 08.09.2011.

4. Upon perusal of the documents on record and on considering the aforesaid submissions, I find that the notification dated 08.09.2011 provides for the reservation of wards in connection with the election of the Corporation Council to be held shortly thereafter. As such, no purpose would be served by keeping the present writ petition pending. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed as infructuous. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. No costs.
