O R D E R

(The Order of the Court was made by M.JAICHANDREN J.,) This Habeas Corpus petition has been filed praying that this Court may be pleased to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to produce the petitioner's minor daughter, Kavitha @ Kavipriya, aged about 17 years, before this Court and to hand over the custody of the detenue to the petitioner.

2. The petitioner has stated that the detenue was missing from 17.11.2015. As per the the statement made by the petitioner, the detenue is in the illegal custody of the third respondent. Therefore, the petitioner has lodged a complaint before the respondent Police and the said complaint had been registered, in Crime No.328 of 2015, under Section 366(A) of I.P.C. Since no further steps had been taken by the respondent Police, the petitioner has preferred the present Habeas Corpus Petition before this Court.

3. Today, when the matter was listed for hearing, a status report, dated 9.2.2016, had been filed on behalf of the respondent Police. From the statement made in the status report, it is clear that the respondent Police is taking adequate steps to trace the detenue, who is said to have eloped with the third respondent. In such circumstances, we find no reason to grant the relief, as prayed for by the petitioner, in the present Habeas Corpus Petition. Hence, the Habeas Corpus Petition stands closed. However, the respondent Police is directed to continue with the investigation to trace the detenue and to take necessary steps, in accordance with law.
