The petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to take appropriate and necessary steps for either converting the present open drainage channel running along the Western side of the "Mahadeva Nagar" layout near Seetharaman Street, Arcot, Vellore District into a closed drainage system or constructing concrete walls https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
along the Banks of the said open drainage channel ensuring free flow of sewerage through the said channel.
2.When the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing, Mr.J.Jayan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the Public Works Department, Ranipet, by letter dated 16.03.2014, agreed to construct a closed drainage system, however, they are awaiting sanction of funds from the Government. Further, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the Public Works Department had called upon the 2nd respondent to desilt the drainage and to maintain the same in a proper manner. Further, the learned counsel submitted that in view of the letter dated 16.03.2014, the Writ Petition may be closed.
3.Recording the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, the Writ Petition stands closed. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is also closed.
