Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus calling for the records of the 1st respondent pertaining to the proceedings in G.O. (D) No.157 M.A & W.S Department and quash the order dated 12.3.2015 and consequently direct the 1st and 2nd respondent to consider the proposal of the 3rd respondent vide Na.Ka. No.865/2013/MC2 dated 7.7.2014 on par with G.O.(D) No.268 M.A & W.S Department dated 14.7.2006 and G.O.(D) No.412 M.A & W.S Department dated 24.10.2011.

O R D E R
On 06.06.2023, I had requested the learned Additional Government Pleader to verify if the Government is willing to reconsider its decision of abolition of the post of Law Officer in the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation.
2. By a letter dated 12.06.2023, the learned Additional Government Pleader informs that there is no proposal at the Government level for revival of the post of Law Officer in the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation. The said letter is placed on record. When the post itself has been abolished, the recommendation of the Municipal Council on 25.06.2014 recommending the petitioner to be appointed to the post of Law Officer is of no avail. Therefore, no relief can be granted to the petitioner in this writ petition. The writ petition is dismissed, recording the letter of the Government in Letter No.16904/MC4/20152 / 4
3 dated 12.06.2023. It is open to the petitioner to take appropriate legal steps including approaching the Government for the purpose of revival of the post. No costs.
