Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Section 226 of the Constitution of India for issue of Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to call for the records relating to the Letter of the respondent in Lr.No.SE/NEDC/NKL/ DFC/ AO/ Rev/HT/AS/F.HT.334/D.989/2025, dated 07.01.2026 and quash the same and consequently direct the respondent to restore the HTSC 334, permit the petitioner to pay the arrears of current consumption charges together with belated payment surcharge in monthly installments pursuant to the petitioner's representation dated 05.01.2026.

O R D E R

This writ petition is filed for the following relief: "To call for the records relating to the Letter of the respondent in Lr.No.SE/NEDC/NKL/ DFC/ AO/ Rev/HT/AS/F.HT.334/D.989/2025, dated 07.01.2026 and quash the same and consequently direct the respondent to 2/7

restore the HTSC 334, permit the petitioner to pay the arrears of current consumption charges together with belated payment surcharge in monthly installments pursuant to the petitioner's representation dated 05.01.2026."

The petitioner was carrying on business in manufacturing of Steel M.S.Ingots and TMT Bars at SF No.272, 4D & 4H, Vasanthapuram, Nallur, Namakkal (DT), for several years and obtained HT electricity service connection in the year 2010. The petitioner would submit that he was regularly paying the current consumption charges and due to market dullness and labour problems, he could not pay the current consumption charges from August 2025 to December 2025. Hence, electricity service connection was disconnected in the month of September 2025. The petitioner gave his representation on 05.01.2026, seeking details as to arrears of current consumption charges and also agreed to pay the arrears together with belated payment surcharge in 10 monthly installments. The respondent furnished the required details in its letter dated 07.01.2026 but however 3/7

rejected the request of the petitioner stating that payment of arrears in installment is not feasible of compliance.

3. Challenging the same, the petitioner is before this Court.

At the time of admission, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner would pay a sum of Rs.25,00,000/- and within a period of 3 days therefrom, electricity service connection may be restored to him. He would further submit that the balance amount will be paid in 10 equated monthly installments.

5. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent on instructions would submit that the respondent is agreeable to the above request.

6. Recording the same, this writ petition is disposed of with the following directions.

(i)The petitioner shall pay a sum of Rs.25,00,000/- and on payment of the said amount electricity service 4/7

connection shall be restored to the petitioner, within a period of 3 days from the date of payment.

(ii)The balance amount shall be paid in 10 equated monthly installments and the payment shall be made on or before 5th day of every month.
