O R D E R

This petition has been filed to direct the respondent to register a case based on the petitioner's complaint dated 04.10.2013.

2.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner; learned Government Advocate [Criminal Side] for the respondent and perused the materials placed on record.

3. The petitioner has given a complaint on the ground that one Rajkumar, Vice President of Samanthamalai Panchayat had demanded money from the petitioner with regard to laying of road in pooramboke land, but that the petitioner refused to pay the amount, therefore, he threatened the petitioner with dire https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

consequences, hence the petitioner lodged a complaint before the respondent police on 04.10.2013, but, the said complaint is pending without any action. Hence, the petitioner has come forward with the present petition.

4. Learned Government Advocate [Criminal Side] submits that he is not in a position to ascertain whether the complaint is disposed of or not.

5.In the above circumstances, the respondent police is directed to conduct enquiry within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and during the course of enquiry, if any cognizable offence is made out, F.I.R. shall be registered, following the dictum laid down by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in LALITA KUMARI vs. GOVERNMENT OF UTTARPRADESH AND OTHERS reported in [(2014) 2 SCC 1]. 5.With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
