The relief sought for in the present writ petition is for a direction to direct the respondents to induct the petitioner in the 18 members Hockey team and allot him a seat in the team as per the letter of Assistant Director of the Madras University Union dated 27.11.2004.

2. The claim set out in the writ petition is incapable of being considered after a lapse of about 14 years in view of the letter of the Assistant Director. Even at the time of filing of the writ petition, the age of writ petitioner was 24 years and now, he would be around 38 years. The relief sought for is to induct the writ petitioner in the Hockey Team as per the letter of the Assistant Director of Physical Education, Madras University. Inducting a sports person in the team involves assessment of merit and all other criteria, which can neither be considered nor the relief can be granted in the present writ petition.

3. Accordingly, the writ petition stands dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
