Respondent Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to release the 83 bags of broken rice seized by the Inspector of Police, Civil Supplies CID, Cuddalore, Cuddalore District on 5.12.2013 from the petitioner's brother's rice mill viz., Taj Rice Mill, No.62-C, Madras Trunk Road, Villupuram, to the petitioner on furnishing immovable property security to the petitioner.

ORDER

The broken rice transported by the petitioner was seized by the Inspector of Police, Civil Supplies CID, on 5.12.2013. The seized commodity was produced before the District Revenue Officer, Villupuram. The petitioner submitted an application on 13.3.2014, requesting the respondent to release the rice. Since follow up action was not taken up by the respondent, the petitioner is before this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate on behalf of the respondent.

3. The respondent is directed to consider and dispose of the application submitted by the petitioner on 13.3.2014 on merits and as per law. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

4. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
