Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to rectify the mistake in describing the initials of the petitioner herein as "N.C." instead of "W.K" in all the course certificates and grade cards pertaining to the management programme conducted by Indira Gandhi

National Open University (IGNOU) before conferring convocation to the petitioner.

The petitioner participated in the Indira Gandhi National Open University Master of Business Administration (Management Programme). Though his name is 'N.C.Ashok Kumar', the result card was issued mentioning his name as 'W.K.Ashok Kumar', for which, the petitioner has filed this writ petition.

2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that it would suffice to issue a direction to the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 30.11.2004 in respect of change in his name and dispose of the same within a reasonable time.

3.In view of the limited request made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, this Court is inclined to issue a direction to the respondents to consider the representation dated 30.11.2004

and pass appropriate orders on the same, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. For ready reference, the petitioner is directed to send a copy of the representation dated 30.11.2004 to the respondents so as to enable them to pass appropriate orders.
