ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the first respondent to implement the order of the second respondent in W.C.No.4 of 2014 dated 29.10.2021.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was died on 05.04.2013 while working as contract labour in the office of the first respondent. He further submitted that the principal amount of workmen compensation alone was settled and the interest amount to the tune of Rs.8,02,125/- is yet to be settled. The representation made by the petitioner in that regard also did not evoke any response. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.

The learned counsel for the first respondent submits that as per the order dated 29.10.2021 passed by the second respondent, the first respondent paid a sum of Rs.6,95,378/- by way of Demand Draft towards workmen compensation along with funeral expenses, but interest has not been paid for the delayed payment of such amount. He further submitted that the Contractor through whom the petitioner was engaged in his letter 2/4

dated 20.06.2023 requested 30 days time for settling the interest amount of Rs.8,07,125/-.

4. In view of the aforesaid submissions, this Court directs the first respondent to deposit the interest to the tune of Rs.8,07,125/- in the name of the Joint Commissioner of Labour 1, Chennai-6 by way of demand draft on or before 15.08.2023.

5. Accordingly, this writ petition is closed on the aforesaid terms. No costs.
