O R D E R
This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondent police to grant police protection for conducting the Jallikattu (Bull Race Function) on 08.02.2024 between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
2.When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing on behalf of the respondents that the District Collector has already given permission to conduct the Jallikattu yesterday. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor therefore submitted that necessary police protection will also be given and the petitioner has to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) stipulated by the State Government for conducting such Jallikattu.
3.In the light of the above submission, there shall be a direction to the 7th respondent to provide police protection for the Jallikattu Festival to be conducted tomorrow (i.e., 08.02.2024) between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is also made clear that the petitioner will strictly follow the SOP provided by the State Government while conducting the Jallikattu.
