PRAYER : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents 1 to 3 to give electricity supply/connection to the petitioner's well situated in Survey No.218/1E2 of agricultural land in Mudalaipatty Village, Nammakal District by taking electric lines from the nearest electric pole i.e., an electric pole situated at fourth respondent land which is just 20 feet away from the petitioner's land and also to direct the respondents to pay compensation to the petitioner at the rate of Rs.1,000/- per day of delay in giving electricity connection from 30.10.2020 (i.e.,) 30 days after the date of receipt of payment of estimated amount for providing service connection by the respondents 1 to 3 till the date of giving electricity supply/connection to the petitioner.

O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents 1 to 3 to give electricity service connection to the petitioner's well situated in the agricultural land in Survey No.218/1E2 in Mudalaipatty Village, Nammakal District, by taking electric lines from the nearest electric pole situated at the

fourth respondent's land which is just 20 feet away from the petitioner's land and direct the respondents to pay compensation to the petitioner at the rate of Rs.1,000/- per day for the delay in giving electricity connection from 30.10.2020 (i.e.,) 30 days, after the date of receipt of payment of estimated amount for providing service connection by the respondents 1 to 3 till the date of giving electricity supply/connection to the petitioner.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has made an application for giving electricity service connection to the well situated in his agricultural land in Survey No.218/1E2 in Mudalaipatti Village, Nammakal District and has paid the requisite fee of Rs.2,75,000/-, however, the respondents have not taken any action to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's well. Therefore, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents 1 to 3 submits that the electricity service connection will be provided to the

petitioner's well within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. Recording the submission made by the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents 1 to 3 to provide electricity service connection to the petitioner's well situated in the agricultural land in Survey No.218/1E2 at Mudalaipatty Village, Nammakal District within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
