ORDER

This contempt petition has been filed seeking to punish the respondent for willful disobedience of the order of this court dated 31.07.2023 in Crl.O.P.No.22447 of 2023.

2. Now, it is stated by the learned counsel for the respondent that the amount has been paid. However, since, the order dated 31.07.2023 does not indicate interest, interest has not been paid.

3. This Court is of the view that as the amount has been paid after a period of three years, the petitioner is certainly entitled to reasonable interest @ 6 p.a. Hence, the respondent is directed to calculate the interest @ 6 p.a., for the delayed payment and settle the interest within a period of one month.

4. With the above observation, this contempt petition stands closed. In the event, the interest is not paid within a period of one month, the petitioner is at liberty to file a fresh contempt petition.
