WP No.4566 of 2014 The Hon`ble The CHIEF JUSTICE and The Hon`ble Mr Justice R. MAHADEVAN T.NAGAR RESIDENTS WELFARE ASSN., REP. BY ITS TREASURER MR.R.MOHAN, NO.30, RANGAN STREET, T.NAGAR, CHENNAI- Vs STATE OF TAMILNADU REP. BY THE SECRETARY TO GOVERNMENT, MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION AND WATER SUPPLIES DEPT., SECRETARIAT, FORT ST.

GEORGE, CH-9 and 5 others.

Learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the Corporation has produced before us the letter from the Commissioner addressed to the first respondent on 20.07.2016 in pursuance to the order dated 14.07.2016 qua implementation of the Tamil Nadu Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulations of Street Vending) Scheme and Rules, 2015. In the two months time already elapsed, the Vending Committees have not seen the light of the day and the request of the Chennai Corporation to issue orders as per Rule 11 of the said Rules for 15 Town Vending Committees to be constituted for the Greater Chennai Corporation still remains unattended. It is in these circumstances that the prayer is made for extension of time by two months to comply with the order in W.M.P.No.29459 of 2016.

2. We are unable to appreciate how a simple task of this nature could not have been completed within the period of more than two months available to the first respondent, as the necessary communication had already been addressed by the Corporation of Chennai on 20.07.2016.

3. We thus direct the personal presence of the first respondent with records showing what steps have been taken and when, on receipt of the letter dated 20.07.2016 and a chart be produced in this behalf. List for compliance on 4th November, 2016.
