Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, directing the 4th and 5th respondents to provide adequate police protection to conduct Pongal Festival on 04.02.2025 and 05.02.2025 in Arulmighu Sri Mariyamman Temple situated in Thuyyampoondurai Village, Erode Taluk and District under the supervision of 3rd respondent based on petitioner's representation dated 27.12.2024. O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner, to provide adequate police protection to conduct the Pongal Festival on 04.02.2025 and 05.02.2025 in Arulmighu Sri Mariamman Temple situated at Thuyyampoondurai Village, Erode Taluk and District.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that this Court repeatedly directs the police officials to grant permission to conduct the Pongal festival and other related programmes with certain conditions. Therefore, he prayed to grant permission to conduct the Pongal Festival in Arulmighu Sri Mariamman Temple situated at Thuyyampoondurai Village, Erode Taluk and District, on 04.02.2025 and 05.02.2025 3.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submitted that if the petitioner is allowed to conduct the Pongal festival there will be a law and order problem. Therefore, this writ petition is liable to be dismissed.

Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials placed on record.

5. Considering the above facts and circumstances of the case, the fifth respondent is directed to conduct enquiry, on the complaint lodged by the petitioners seeking police protection to conduct the Pongal festival at the Arulmighu Sri Mariamman Temple situated in Thuyyampoondurai

Village, Erode Taluk and District, scheduled to be held on 04.02.2025 and 05.02.2025, after issuing notice to the respondents 8 to 10 herein, and pass orders whether permitting or not permitting to conduct the Pongal festival at the Arulmighu Sri Mariamman Temple situated in Thuyyampoondurai Village, Erode Taluk and District by 04.02.2025. 6.

This writ petition is disposed with the above direction. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
