Respondents PRAYER: This writ petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent, The Assistant Engineer, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited, Keelkattalai/Madipakkam, to take appropriate steps on the application made by the petitioner on 14.05.2019 to cancel the illegal electricity connection obtained in the name of the respondents 2 and 3 and change the same in the name of the petitioner insofar as the property of the petitioner which is situated at Pallikaranai Village, presently under the Sholinganallur Taluk, Chennai District, comprised in new Survey field numbers 4/3A1A1A1, 4/2B2, 4/1A2B

and 4/1A1B1 as per patta number 15474 (Old Survey field numbers were 4/1, 4/4 and 2/6), measuring an extent of 13995 square feet, and situated at the junction of the LIC Nagar 4th Main Road and LIC Nagar 1st Cross, Madipakkam, Chennai-600 091.

O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed, directing the 1st respondent to take appropriate steps on the application made by the petitioner on 14.05.2019 to cancel the illegal electricity connection obtained in the name of the respondents 2 and 3 and change the same in the name of the petitioner insofar as the property of the petitioner.

2. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner is the absolute owner of the property situated at Pallikaranai Village, New Survey field numbers 4/3A1A1A1. 4/2B2, 4/1A2B and 4/1A1B measuring a total extent of 13995 square feet and he purchased the said properties by way of a sale deed dated 24.06.1988 vide document no.2551 of 1988. Subsequently, the revenue records were mutated in the name of the petitioner in Patta No.15474. Thereafter, the petitioner came to know that the 2nd and 3rd respondents had obtained an

electricity connection in the property enjoyed by the petitioner. Therefore, the petitioner made a representation on 14.05.2019. However, no action was taken till date. Hence, the present writ petition is filed with the above said prayer.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that it would suffice, if a direction is issued to the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation within a reasonable time.

The learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents 1 & 4 would submit that they will consider the petitioner's representation and pass appropriate orders within a reasonable time as fixed by this Court. 5.Since no adverse order was passed against the 2nd and 3rd respondents, notice to the 2nd and 3rd respondents is dispensed with.

6. Considering the limited request made by the petitioner, this Court is inclined to issue a direction to the official respondents to consider the petitioner's representation, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the parties concerned and pass appropriate orders within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. For ready reference, the petitioner is required to send a copy of the representation along with the order
