ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for the issue of writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner and to pass orders on the claim made by the petitioner for notional promotion and other terminal benefits.

The case of the petitioner is that he was working as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Police Department and according to the petitioner, he was entitled for promotion

to the post of Additional District Superintendent of Police (ADSP) from October 2018 onwards. However, the process of promotion was not started and therefore, the petitioner had also made representations in this regard. Ultimately, the petitioner retired from service on 07.05.2019. The petitioner thereafter had sent a representation to the respondents to grant notional promotion to the petitioner and to give all other attendant benefits. Since the same has not been considered by the respondents, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.

3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned counsel appearing for the respondents. 4.

Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the limited relief that has been sought for in this writ petition, there shall be a direction to the 1st respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 14.05.2019, on its own merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. The petitioner is directed to make a fresh representation to the 1st respondent along with copy of representation dated 14.05.2019 and also a copy of this order.

This writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
