PRAYER : Petition filed Under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue Writ of mandamus to direct the respondents to issue Passport to the petitioner (Application Reference No.131007243637) based on the date of birth mentioned in the Birth Certificate.

Heard Mr. P.N.Saravanan, learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner. Though the respondents have been served and their names are printed in the cause list, none appeared for them.

2.The petitioner seeks for issuance of writ of mandamus to direct the respondents to issue Passport to her (Application Reference No.13-1007243637) based on the date of birth mentioned in the Birth Certificate, which is 18.12.1989.

3.Admittedly petitioner's both Secondary grade School Leaving Certificate as well as Higher Secondary grade School Leaving Certificate the date of birth is mentioned as 18.07.1989. Therefore, the petitioner has to first get the date of birth in the School Certificates rectified and then approach the authorities concerned. 4.In the light of the above, the writ petition is disposed by permitting the petitioner to approach the School authorities viz. Government High School, Alamathi, Chennai 52 and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Redhills, where she has completed 10th and 12th standards and submit appropriate applications for rectification of date of birth along with the birth certificate issued by the Corporation of Chennai. Thereafter, the School authorities shall forward the applications for rectification to the competent authority, who shall consider the applications for rectification of date of birth and pass appropriate orders, within a period of eight weeks from the date on which the applications were forwarded by the School authorities. No costs.
