ORDER
This Writ Petition is filed challenging the award passed by the first respondent, namely the Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories I Division, Coimbatore dated 04.11.2010 thereby, directing the Conferment of Permanent 2/5
Status on the 82 Workmen as per the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (Provision of Permanent Status to Workmen) Act, 1981.

Subsequently, when the matter came up for hearing the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner Management would submit when the management wanted to settle the issue subsequently only 39 Workmen had come forward and all the said 39 Workmen were made permanent. The remaining 31 of them have left service on their own and only 12 Workmen continue to be in the service of the mill. It is also stated that after the settlement and conferment of permanent status on these Workmen, the mill was closed on 24.03.2020 because of covid-19 and was restarted again on 28.12.2020. Once again it was closed with effect from 31.07.2021. As and when any other Workman who has been given the relief approaches the petitioner mill as and when the mill reopens, the petitioner will consider their claim and by make them permanent also. Recording the above affidavit and if the Workmen are aggrieved by the closure of the mill they will be entitled to seek redressal of their grievances independently, considering the 3/5
subsequent events that had taken place, nothing further remains to be adjudicated in the present Writ Petition.
3. Accordingly, the Writ Petition is closed. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. 07.01.2025 dna To The Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories I Division Coimbatore 641 012.
