PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus calling for the records relating to the Advertisement of the 2nd respondent dated 08.12.2010 in Advt.002/AUCT/2010 and quash the same only in respect of the clause 6(2) General Information and Instructions annexed with the Notification dated 08.12.2010 and direct the respondents to reserve even the first vacancy in the post of Assistant Professor in Electronic and Communication Engineering in the University College of Engineering, namely, 1)Tindivanam, Page No.1 of 4
2) Villupuram, 3) Arni and 4) Kanchipuram, Anna University of Technology, C.P.T. Campus, Taramani, Chennai, for the hearing-impaired candidates and consequently appoint the petitioner as Assistant Professor in Electronics & Communication Engineering.

This writ petition has been filed challenging the notification issued by the 2nd respondent vide Advt.002/AUTC/2010 dated 08.12.2010 insofar as clause 6(2) General Information and Instructions annexed to the said notification and seeking consequential direction to the respondents to reserve the vacancies in the post of Assistant Professor in Electronics and Communication Engineering in different Universities College of Engineering for physically disabled candidates.

Today, when the matter is taken for consideration, it is brought to the notice of this Court by Mr.Avinash Wadhwani, learned counsel appearing for the 2nd respondent that the entire recruitment process initiated in Page No.2 of 4
the impugned advertisement was dropped consequent upon merger of the 2nd respondent Institution with Anna University and therefore, the cause in the writ petition does not survive. The relevant paragraph i.e., paragraph 3 of the counter affidavit filed by the 2nd respondent also reads as under: "3. I submit that pending the conclusion of the selection process, in order to remove the difficulties and confusions, the Government decided to bring all the Engineering colleges in the State under Anna University by converting the University into an affiliating University. Consequently, the recruitment process was dropped. Therefore, nothing survives in this Writ petition." 3.
In view of the same, the cause in this writ petition does not survive and accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed. The connected miscellaneous petitions, if any shall stand closed. No costs. 23.09.2024 Index :
