The petitioner is a former president of Z-299, Naluvedhapathi, Marine Fisherman Co-operative Society, Vedaraniyam Taluk, Nagapattinam District. 2/6
2. According to him, the members of the Society should engage in full time fishing. The period of membership is between 18 to 60 years. The petitioner states that the members of the Co-operative Society are entitled to grants, regularly announced by the State and the Central Government. He had earlier filed a writ petition in W.P.No.5014 of 2018 seeking a direction against the respondents to contribute to the National Fishermen / Fisherwoman Saving cum Relief Scheme. The said writ petition has been dismissed on 29.08.2019. The petitioner states that the grants, benefits and financial assistance by the State and Central Government are not been paid to the members of the Society. He further states that the Election to the Society had not been conducted in accordance with law. Hence, the present writ petition.
3. When the writ petition came up for hearing, there is no representation for the petitioner. Mr.L.S.M.Hassan Fizal, Additional Government Pleader appears for the respondents. He has produced instructions from Assistant Director of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Department, Nagapattinam dated 01.12.2025. The said instructions are scanned and extracted hereunder:

4. The instructions states that whatever relief assistance the fishermen families have sought, has already been provided by the State of Tamil Nadu. In addition, 54 fishermen have been benefitted under the National Fishermen Saving cum Relief Scheme for the year 2024.
5. As the relief sought for by the petitioner has already been granted by the respondents, this writ petition is dismissed as infructuous. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 01.12.2025 rap Index : Yes/No To
