ORDER

The petitioner's service connection was disconnected apparently, on the ground of non-payment of due charges. Seeking to restore the service connection, the present writ petition is filed.

2. In paragraph 6 of the counter affidavit filed by the respondent, the following stand has been taken: "6. I submit the above said service is actually disconnected on Non-Payment of CC bil on 20-08-2009. As per TNERC Supply code orders/SC/7-2 dated 19.05.2006 with effect from 01.09.2004 Clause 7 "If the consumer of disconnected service come forward for reconnection after 5 years in case of HT service and 2 years for LT services from the date of https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

disconnection licensee shall treat them as new applicants and supply effected after recovering all charges applicable to a new service connection and all other arrears with BPSC". Based on the provision reconnection is not possible as it is after a period of 2 years".

3. In view of the above, the only option open to the petitioner is to pay the requisite charges inclusive of the arrears for the old connection and thereafter, make an application afresh seeking a new service connection. As and when the petitioner does so, the respondents shall effect the service connection, within a period of two weeks thereafter. The Writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
