ORDER

The Writ Petition is filed seeking for a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to grant new electricity connection to the petitioner's residential place at No.1, Narayana Saranga Thottam Street, Vallaseethakathi Nagar, Mannady, Chennai - 600 001.

The case of the petitioner is that the subject property was a joint family property, which she enjoyed along with her sister and after partition on 01.12.2022, the petitioner became the sole owner of the property. The petitioner obtained water and sewage connection and was assessed to the property tax by the Chennai Corporation. Thereafter, the petitioner applied for electricity connection before the second respondents on 21.12.2022 by submitting a representation. However, till date no electricity connection has been granted to the petitioner. Hence, the petitioner has filed the above writ petition before this Court for appropriate directions.

Though very many grounds have been raised in the present writ petition, the learned counsel for the petitioner submits that, it would suffice, it this Court issues a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 21.12.2022 and pass appropriate orders, within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents fairly submitted that, as on date, no application has been filed by the petitioner before the respondents. He also submits that, if any application is filed for electricity connection, the same will be considered and appropriate orders will be passed by the respondents upon satisfaction of the title owned by the petitioner.

5. In view of the aforesaid submissions, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the petitioner to file a fresh representation for electricity service connection before the respondents and if any such representation is made, the respondents are directed to consider and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance, if the title of the petitioner is satisfied, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
