Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to grant in order of allotment in respect of 600 sq.ft. of land on the corner G.N.Chetti Road, and rearside of Kamarajar Bhawan, Greams Road, Chennai-6. ORDER

Tmt.G.Amudha, District Social Welfare Officer (i/c), South Chennai, is present today. Pursuant to the orders of this Court dated 26.11.2021, she had conducted an inspection with the assistance of the jurisdictional Police and identified that no orphanage is being run at present and the portion of the area is vacant. Thus no further action is required.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner has made a submission that the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board has taken a decision to demolish the entire block as the units are in dilapidated condition and not fit for dwelling. The petitioner himself is not residing there and the premises become vacant.

3. In view of the fact that the petitioner is not using the vacant flat and the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board also has taken initiatives to demolish the entire block there is no further consideration needs to be undertaken in the writ petition.

4. It is needless to state that the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board has to initiate appropriate steps to remove the encroachment, if at all any existed as of now.

5. With these observations, the writ petition stands disposed of. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is also closed. No costs.
