The petitioner seeks a mandamus directing the General and Branch Managers of the Life Insurance Corporation of India/R1 and R2 to disburse policy assured sum of

Rs.35,000/- with interest, bonus and other benefits as may be due thereupon to the petitioner.

2.Counter has been filed by the respondents wherein at paragraph 2, they contested the writ petition on the preliminary ground of maintainability. The term of the policy had admittedly expired on 20.09.2001 and no claim was raised thereunder, till a legal notice was issued on 04.07.2007. Thereafter, the present writ petition has been filed only on 10.02.2010. The affidavit filed in support of this writ petition does not contain any explanation in regard to the intervening delay. 3.Thus, accepting the ground of inordinate delay and laches in filing of this writ petition putforth by the respondents, this writ petition is dismissed. No costs. Connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
