Mrs.P.Rajalakshmi, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondents. By consent of both parties, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2.This writ petition has been filed, seeking a direction to the first respondent to take appropriate action and pass final orders in the petitioner's revision dated 06.02.2020 within a time to be stipulated by this Court.
3.The case of the petitioner is that while he was working as an Inspector of Police at Palladam Police Station, Tirupur District, he was issued with a charge memo dated 09.02.2016 under 3(b) of the Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1955. Subsequently, enquiry was conducted, which ended in punishment of postponement of next increment for three years. Feeling aggrieved over the same, he filed an appeal to the second respondent, which was rejected on 05.05.2018. Challenging the same, he preferred a revision petition before the first respondent on 06.02.2020, which is pending, without any progress. Stating that the department is now preparing the panel for promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police and in the event of the punishment imposed on the petitioner being modified, he may be considered for further promotion, he has filed the present writ petition for the aforesaid relief.
4.Heard both sides and perused the materials brought on record.
5.Considering the limited relief sought in this writ petition, this Court without going into the merits of the case, directs the first respondent to consider the revision preferred by the petitioner on 06.02.2020 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.The Writ Petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
