PRAYER: Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to accept the Motor Vehicle Tax for the contract carriage Maxi Cab of the petitioner for the periods (i) 01.07.2018 to 30.09.2018, (ii) 01.10.2018 to 31.12.2018 and (iii) 01.01.2019 to 31.03.2019 in respect of the vehicle bearing Registration No.TN 20 BU 5294 with reference to the petitioner's representation dated 09.01.2019.

O R D E R

The petitioner in this writ petition seeks mandamus directing the respondent/Regional Transport Authority, Chennai (North) to consider and dispose of the representation dated 09.01.2019 requesting the respondent to accept the tax for the periods 01.07.2018 to 30.09.2018, 01.10.2018 to 31.12.2018 and 01.01.2019 to 31.03.2019.

2. It appears that the tax had been paid for the period 01.07.2018 to 30.09.2018, belatedly with penalty. However, a different vehicle number had been noted by the officials of the respondent owing to which credit has not been granted for such payment to the petitioner. A representation dated 09.01.2019 has been filed before the respondent pointing out the aforesaid error.

3. In the light of the aforesaid circumstances, the representation of the petitioner dated 09.01.2019 praying that the authority receive the tax and not disturb the licence https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

in the meanwhile, shall be considered and appropriate orders passed after hearing the petitioner within a period of four(4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. This writ petition is disposed of in the aforesaid terms and the connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs.
