The petitioner seeks for a mandamus directing the respondents to consider representation of the petitioner dated 04.09.2019 for permitting member of petitioner committee to conduct prayer in the Burial ground maintained by the respondent in Old S.No.513, New S.No.H6/66, Udhagamandalam East, Udhagamandalam Taluk, Nilgiris District.

2. Heard both sides.

3. It is claimed by the petitioner that during the festival times, several religious activities are carried out in the burial ground as per islamic traditions where the forefathers of the petitioners were buried. Therefore, for doing such prayers during the festival times, the petitioner sought for permission through the representation dated 04.09.2019. The grievance of the petitioner is that the said representation is still pending.

Considering the above stated facts and circumstances and without expressing any view on the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, this writ petition is disposed of, only by directing the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 04.09.2019 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, after giving due opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and necessary parties, if any, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
