Respondents PRAYER : Petition filed Under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to number the revision petition and to dispose off the main revision petition filed against R.P.No. 305 of 2016 on the file of the Government of Tamil Nadu represented by Secretary to Government, Hindu Religious Charitable Endowment Department, Fort St.George, Chennai - 600 009, filed by the petitioners, within a specified time limit.

O R D E R

Mr.M.Karthikeyan, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondents 1 to 3.

2. The writ petition has been filed in the nature of Mandamus, seeking a direction to the first respondent namely the Secretary to Government, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Fort St.George, Chennai to number the revision petition and to dispose of the writ petition filed against R.P.No.305 of 2016, which is pending on the file of the first respondent.

3. The grievance expressed by the learned counsel Mr.K.Ashok kumar for the petitioner is that the petitioner had filed revision petition before the first respondent, against R.P.No.305 of 2016, which was filed under Section 21 of the HR & CE Act. The second respondent, namely the Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Nungambakkam, Chennai, on 21.03.2017 allowed R.P.No. 305 of 2016. As against the said order, there is a statutory revision available to the petitioner, for which revision lies before the first respondent, namely, Secretary to Government, HR & CE Department, Tamil Nadu.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner states that the petitioner filed the said revision on May 2017, unfortunately, the revision has not been assigned any number till now.

5. Since, the revision petition is not yet numbered, Mandamus is issued to the first respondent to atleast number the said revision petition, if it is in order on or before 26.03.2020 and thereafter take it on file and after issuing notice to all the parties concerned, dispose of the same in accordance with law on or before 15.04.2020.

6. With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
