ORDER

The petitioner/defacto complainant has lodged a complaint in Crime No.5 of 2026 for the offence under Sections 296(b), 115(2), 118(1), 85, 133, 75, 88 and 351(3) of BNS and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act against four persons. Except for registering the FIR, no action has been taken. Hence, the present petition has been filed seeking a direction to file final report.

2. Learned Public Prosecutor submits that on the petitioner's complaint, a case has been registered and thereafter, investigation conducted and the statement of 14 witnesses were recorded. Finally, it was found that the complaint of the petitioner is not supported with any material and evidence. Hence, the complaint has been closed in RC.No.2 of 2026 on 16.02.2026.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has neither been informed nor been served any notice regarding closure of the case. Today, the learned counsel for the petitioner handed over the copy of the closure report to the petitioner.

4. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor submits that the closure report will be filed before the concerned court within a period of two weeks.

Thereafter, the petitioner is entitled to file a protest petition and the same to be considered by the trial court on merits.
