ORDER
The Petitioner has challenged the impugned demand notice dated 22.07.2023, wherein a sum of Rs.13,21,435/- has been demanded towards Tax and arrears of Water Charges as detailed below:- epYit tptuk;

Tax Arrear Charges Arrear 12,93,544/- Surcharge - Surcharge 26,245/- Total 13,21,435/- The aforesaid demand is a composite demand for the period between December 2018 - June 2023.
2. The learned Standing Counsel for the Respondents confirms that the Petitioner has made further payments for the aforesaid period and in all has Page No. 2 of 6
paid a sum of Rs.9,00,000/-. Thus, a sum of Rs.4,21,435/- is due from the Petitioner for the aforesaid period (Rs.13,21,435/- (-) Rs.9,00,000/-).

The learned Standing Counsel for the Respondents submits that for the succeeding period, the Petitioner is still in arrears and thus as on date, the arrears of water charges payable by the Petitioner is Rs.6,36,120/- as of June, 2025. It is submitted that further amount is also payable till the month of October, 2025.
4. On the other hand, the learned counsel for the Petitioner submits that only a sum of Rs.50,000/- is due and therefore the impugned proceedings are liable to be interfered with. That apart, it is submitted that the impugned demand has been made in the name of the dead person namely the Petitioner's father father and therefore on this count also the impugned demand notice is liable to be quashed.
5. Having considered the submission made by the learned counsel for the Petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel for the Respondents, this Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the Respondents to consider the Page No. 3 of 6
Petitioner's representation subject to the Petitioner depositing another sum of Rs.4,00,000/-, within a period of 30 days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and out of the purpose of arrears of Rs.6,36,122/- as of June, 2025.
6. Subject to the Petitioner complying with the above requirements, the Respondents shall thereafter proceed to pass a fresh order on merits after hearing the Petitioner.
7. The Petitioner shall also take steps to alter the name of assessee with the Respondents, as the Petitioner's father died as early as 1992.
