O R D E R

This Court, by order dated 30.06.2022 in Crl.O.P.No.14909 of 2022, directed the respondent Police to file a final report in Crime No.500 of 2021, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of the order.

2.Today, Mr.K.Boopathiraj, Inspector of Police, CCB Cyber Crime Police Station, and Mr.K.Dhanasekar, Inspector of Police, E-2 Royapettah Police Station (Law & Order), Chennai, are present before this Court.

3.Learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondent Police, on instructions, submitted that the case has now been transferred to CCB and the case involves online trade racketing which extends even outside India. He further submitted that the online trading in this case is said to have been executed by a person in Africa, and expressed the difficulty faced by the respondent Police in filing a final report within the stipulated time.

4.In view of the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side), this Court cannot expect the Investigating Officer to file a final report within a particular period. Since the investigation has to be conducted across the country and more particularly, the alleged offence is said to have taken place through online transaction, there cannot be a direction to file a final report within a specific time limit. However, the Investigating Officer of CCB, Cyber Crime Police Station, is directed to pursue the matter and file a final report as expeditiously as possible. 5.With this direction, this Contempt Petition is closed. 14.07.2023 mkn Copy to :
