O R D E R

The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking issuance of Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus to call for the entire records relating to the order dated 30.01.2026 issued by the third respondent and to quash the same as illegal and unsustainable and consequently direct the respondents to permit the petitioner to participate in the further selection process of the post "Grade II Police Constable, Grade II Jail Warden and Fire Man - 2025" issued in the notification vide Advertisement No:02/2025 dated 21.08.2025 by the respondent within a stipulated time as fixed by this Court. 2/6

2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner hails from agricultural family and he belongs to Devendrakula Velalar Community which is classified under Schedule Caste (SC). The petitioner completed Bachelor Degree in Tamil in Madurai Kamarajar University College, Sattur in the year 2022. The second respondent published notification dated 21.08.2025 inviting applications for the posts of Grade II Police Constable, Grade II Jail Warden and Fire Man - 2025 and the petitioner applied for the same and participated in the written examination on 09.11.2025 and since the petitioner secured qualified marks in the written examination, he was called for certificate verification and physical endurance test and he participated in the same on 30.01.2026 and the petitioner's height was 168 cm. Subsequently, the respondents without any authority conducted random check, in which, the petitioner's height was drastically reduced to 166.5 cm., due to which the petitioner is unable to participate in the further selection process, which is not sustainable one.

3.The learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents submitted that on 30.01.2026, 20 persons participated in 3/6

the certificate verification and physical endurance test and random check was conducted for 20 persons. Initially, the petitioner's height was 168 cm., whereas, in the random check, the height was reduced to 166.2 cm. The required height is 167 cm. Random check was videographed and no one can modify video clippings recorded at the time of height measurement.

4.Heard the arguments advanced on either side and perused the materials available on record.

5.The petitioner applied for the posts of Grade II Police Constable, Grade II Jail Warden and Fire Man - 2025, pursuant to the notification dated 21.08.2025 issued by the second respondent and participated in the written examination on 09.11.2025 and secured qualified marks in the written examination and he participated in the certificate verification and physical endurance test on 30.01.2026 and the petitioner's height was 168 cm.

6.The petitioner was subjected to random check along with 19 others, in which, 5 candidates were disqualified including the 4/6

petitioner. Inorder to prove the random check, the respondents produced the video clippings and it revealed that the petitioner's height was 166.2 cm., whereas, the required height was 167 cm. Hence, the relief sought for in this writ petition cannot be granted. 7.The writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
