O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for direction to the respondents to appoint the petitioner as Cook in the Nutritious Meals Centre at Kuppam instead of Mandakalathur, which is situated within 2 kms from her residence by considering her representation dated 04.08.2012.

It is seen that as per the notification issued by the third respondent, the petitioner applied for the post of Cook at the Nutritious Meal Centres in Chetpet. As per the notification, the norms prescribed for appointment are as follows:

[i] GENERAL: Preference will be given to females particularly destitute Widows and those who were deserted by their husband. Reservation for Physically Handicapped Candidates is available.

[ii] AGE: General - Aged between 25 to 40.

[iii] EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:

Must be able to read and write Tamil.

[iv] RESIDENCE: Must be a resident of the Village where the Centre is situated. In case persons residing in 2/4

the Village are not available, those residing in other Villages within 10 K.Ms., radius.

[v] Applications will be received from female candidates only and vacancies will be filed up with female candidates only.

Accordingly, the applicants shall reside within the radius of 10 km of the Nutritious Meal centres. Though the petitioner's house is located within the 2 km radius of Nutritious Meal Centre at Chetpet, she was not selected to the said post on other grounds. That apart, after selection, another person now joined as Cook at the Nutritious Meal Centre, Chetpet. Therefore, the prayer sought for in this writ petition cannot be considered. As such, this writ petition is devoid of merits and liable to be dismissed.

Accordingly, this writ petition is dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
