Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issuance of Writs of Mandamus directing the respondent herein to settle 6 percent interest for the petitioners 1 to 27 herein for the belated settlement of retirement benefits by considering the representation of the petitioner 1 to 27 dated 22.12.2025.

ORDER
This petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent herein to settle 6 percent interest for the petitioners 1 to 27 herein for the belated settlement of retirement benefits by considering the representation of the petitioner 1 to 27 dated 22.12.2025.
2. The case of the petitioners is that they were employed in the respondent Transport Corporation and retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioners belatedly and the interest component has not been paid for the delayed period. In view of the same, the petitioners submitted representations to the respondents on 22.12.2025 to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the said representations were not considered, the present writ petition has been filed.

The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent Transport Corporation would fairly submit that in view of the similar order passed by this Court in W.P.No.20622 of 2025, they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.
4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides.
5. In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
