Pleader in all the W.Ps COMMON ORDER The petitioners' lands situated in Sevilimedu Perur Village, Kancheepuram District have been acquired by the Highways Department. Since the compensation due has not been paid to the petitioners, they made a request. By letters on different dates, the second respondent has informed the petitioners that steps are being taken to pay the compensation within a period of fifteen days after passing of the award. Since no compensation has been paid, the petitioners once again approached the second respondent. By further communications of the second respondent, the petitioners were informed that in view of Act 30 of 2013, there is some delay in fixing the compensation and therefore steps are being taken to pay interim compensation. The petitioners made further representations thereafter. The representations continued till 15.04.2017. Despite the same, the petitioners neither got the compensation nor award was passed and hence the present writ petitions.
2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
3.Considering the above, a direction is issued to the second respondent to pass appropriate orders on the representations of the petitioners and see to it that the compensation fixed is paid as per law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The writ petitions are disposed of accordingly. No costs.
