to re-measure the height of the petitioner (Enrolment No.1104415) for the eligibility in the physical examination as a candidate to the post of GR.II Police constable, GR.II.Jail Warden and Fireman pursuant to the recruitment notification No.02/2025 dated 21.8.2025 issued by the 1st respondent in the presence of a Government Doctor or any person appointed by this Hon'ble Court.

ORDER
This writ petition is filed to call for the records relating to the impugned disqualification slip dated 30.1.2026 issued by the 2nd respondent and quash the same and consequently direct the respondents to re-measure the height of the petitioner (Enrolment No.1104415) for the eligibility in the physical examination as a candidate to the post of GR.II Police constable, GR.II.Jail Warden and Fireman pursuant to the recruitment notification No.02/2025 dated 21.8.2025 issued by the 1st respondent in the presence of a Government Doctor or any person appointed by this Hon'ble Court.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the first respondent issued a notification dated 21.08.2025, inviting applications to the post of Grade-II Police Constables, Grade-II Jail Wardens and Fireman
Services. Pursuant to which, the petitioner has applied for the said post and gave first preference to the Grade-II Police Constable. Subsequently, the petitioner has cleared the written examination and selected for physical verification test and running test for the above said post. In the said physical verification test, the petitioner's height was calculated as 166.3 cm, instead of his actual height 167 cm. Challenging the same, the petitioner preferred an appeal for re-measurement of height before the Chairperson of the Sub Committee, wherein, the petitioner's height was measured as 165.8 cm. Therefore, the second respondent issued a disqualification slip dated 30.01.2026, since the petitioner has not possessed the required height of 167 cm. Challenging the said disqualification slip, the petitioner has come forward with the present writ petition.
3. Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the measurement of height will be reduced from morning to evening to an extent of 0-3 cm., and the same is scientifically proved. If the said 3 cm is added to petitioner's height of 166.7 cm, his height become 167 cm., and will match the height required for the selection to the post of Grade-II Police Constable. Accordingly, she prays for appropriate orders.
4. Per contra, learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents would submit that the Full Bench of this Court has issued direction
to the authorities to measure the height, digitally. When the petitioner made an appeal for re-measurement of height, it was measured digitally and his height was calculated as 165.8 cm, which is not a required height for the post of Grade-II Police Constable. Accordingly, he prays for dismissal of this writ petition.
5. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.
6. The petitioner has applied for the post of Grade-II Police Constable and cleared the written examination. However, he was rejected in the physical verification test and ground test for not possessing the requisite height of 167 cm. According to the petitioner, the measurement of height will be reduced from morning to evening to an extent of 0-3 cm. If the said 3 cm is added to petitioner's height of 166.7 cm, he will be eligible to the post of Grade-II Police Constable. However, in the case on hand, when the petitioner's height was measured digitally, it was only 165.8 cm. Even, if 3 cm is added to the said 165.8 cm., he will not reach the required height of 167 cm. Therefore, this Court does not find any merits in this case and the writ petition is devoid of merits.
In the result, this writ petition stands dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. 04-02-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order VM To:
