ORDER

This petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to settle the petitioners General Provident Fund (GPF account together with accrued interest at the applicable rate, predicated upon the petitioners representation dated 21.01.2026 forthwith.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner joined the service of the Villupuram Municipality as a permanent sweeper on 07.06.1993. Subsequently, he was transferred from the Public Health Unit to the General Unit of the said Municipality and appointed as an Office Assistant in the same pay scale. Upon attaining the age of superannuation, he was permitted to retire from service on 30.04.2025. While the retirement benefits and pensionary dues have been duly sanctioned and disbursed, the settlement of his general provident fund account remains outstanding. However, despite the lapse of time and repeated representations since his superannuation, the settlement of GPF account remains pending. Therefore, the petitioner made a representation on 21.01.2026 to the respondents to settle the GPF to him and the same is not considered. Hence, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this Court may direct the respondents to consider and pass orders on the petitioners

representation within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.

4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the 3rd respondent submitted that the representation will be considered and orders will be passed within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.

5. Heard the learned counsel for both side and perused the materials available on record.

6. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and in view of the limited request sought for by the petitioner, this court directs the 3rd respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 21.01.2026 within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
