O R D E R

This petition has been filed to direct the respondent police to grant police protection during the festival from 25.02.2020 and statute for taking as a Santhana Koodu rally should travel to thopputhurai four street and again it will reach to Thopputhurai Darka (Pallivasal) on 05.03.2020 to 06.03.2020 based on the complaint given by the petitioner dated

03.02.2020.

The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner is the President of Pothuvazhipadu Mattrum Samuga Nala Arakkattalai in Thopputhurai, Vedaranyam Taluk, Nagapattinam District. He further submitted that the petitioner and other members of the said Arakkattalai have decided to conduct Santhana Koodu festival in Thopputhurai Darka (Pallivasal) and hence the petitioner has submitted the representation to the third respondent on 03.02.2020 seeking permission and police protection for performing the said Santhana Koodu festival in the aforesaid Pallivasal on 05.03.2020 and 06.03.2020, but so far no action was taken on the said representation and hence he requests to direct the third respondent to give permission and also police protection for performing the aforesaid functions.

3. Per contra, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor has submitted that the third respondent may be directed to consider the petitioner's representation and dispose of the same in accordance with law.

4. Considering the aforesaid submissions, the third respondent is directed to conduct enquiry on the petitioner's representation with the petitioner and rival groups if any, and dispose of the same in accordance with law on or before 24.02.2020 and inform the result to the petitioner.

5. With the aforesaid directions, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
