Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C., praying to direct the respondents to give police protection to the immediate transplantation of the "Nattrangals"(Paddy Nursery) of the ADT-43 rice variety using the transplanter, which were prepared as the "Raised Bed Seedlings" in the agricultural lands belonging to the petitioner in Survey No.282 of the Memathur Village, Tharangambadi Taluk, Nagapattinam District, on the basis of the complaint dated 11.05.2016, given by the petitioner.

O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to give police protection, based on the complaint dated 11.05.2016 given by the petitioner.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents.

3. It is seen that this petitioner is adopting certain scientific methods recommended by the Government for the agricultural operation, and that is being prevented by some persons in that locality.

The petitioner has given a representation dated 11.05.2016 for police protection.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor on instruction from the respondent-Police submitted that the police are willing to give protection to the petitioner as requested by him.

5. It is also brought to the notice of this Court that the Revenue Divisional Officer, Myladuthurai, conducted enquiry and has advised the petitioner to engage local labourers, so as to defuse the situation.

6. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is conducting agricultural operation only in one part of the land with equipments and that itself is being prevented by some vested interest group.

7. Under such circumstances, the respondent-police is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner and give sufficient police protection to the petitioner, so that no untoward incident takes place.

8. With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is closed.
