ORDER

This petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents 1 and 2 to consider the petitioner's application dated 25.09.2025 and to promote the petitioner to the post of Dean in the 3rd respondent Government Erode Medical College, within a time frame to be fixed by this Hon'ble Court. 2.The petitioner possesses more than 31 years of Teaching experience, fulfills all eligibility criteria prescribed for the post of Dean, and has earlier served as Dean (Full Additional Charge) of the very same institution. The 3rd respondent College was taken over by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the services of all staff, including the petitioner, were absorbed pursuant to Government orders. As per G.O.Ms.No.81 dated 14.03.2024, Government Erode Medical College has been constituted as a separate unit for promotional purposes, and all vacancies are required to be filled first from among eligible candidates within the absorbed unit. Despite this clear policy, the petitioner's candidature has been ignored, while steps are being taken to appoint a candidate

from another institution, on untenable grounds that administrative posts cannot be filled from the same college. The petitioner, being the senior-most eligible candidate within the absorbed unit, has submitted a detailed representation dated 25.09.2025, which remains undisposed of. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that it would suffice, if a direction is issued to the respondents 1 & 2 to consider the petitioner's application dated 25.09.2025, within a reasonable time to be fixed by this Court.

4.Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this Court, directs the respondents 1 & 2 to consider the petitioner's application dated 25.09.2025, and to pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
