This Writ Petition has been filed for direction directing the respondents to promote the petitioner as Senior Meteorologist with effect from 02.08.2000 with all consequential benefits.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents and perused the materials available on record.
3. The petitioner was initially appointed as Meteorologist on 22.07.1987. After completion of 10 years of service, he was granted Selection Grade with effect from 21.07.1997. After completion of 20 years of service, he was elevated as Special Grade Meteorologist with effect from 03.08.2007. Therefore, the petitioner became fully qualified and eligible for promotion as Senior Meteorologist, on completion of 5 years of service in the post of Meteorologist with effect from 22.07.1992. However, he was not promoted to the said post.
4. On oral instruction, learned counsel appearing for the 2/4
respondents would submit that the said post was not yet sanctioned by the Government. Therefore the request made by the petitioner cannot be considered and the writ petition is devoid of merits and it is liable to be dismissed.
5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
