The petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking to extend the time to execute the bail bond and to furnish the sureties in Crl.O.P.No.224 of 2022.

Learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners have filed an application in Crl.O.P.No.224 of 2022 seeking to direct the Special Court for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989 Amedment 2015), Puducherry to entertain the bail application of the petitioners on the same day and release the petitioners on bail pending investigation in Crime No.166 of 2021 on the file of the second respondent police subject to any condition in accordance with law and this Court, by an order dated 07.01.2022, directed the petitioners to surrender before the Trial Court within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of that order or after commencement of normal functioning of the Court, which ever is later and 1/4

on such surrender, the Court concerned shall deal with the matter on the same day on merits and in accordance with law, after issuing notice to the victims under Section 15-A (3) of the SC/ST Act.

He would further submit that despite the order being granted on 07.01.2022, the petitioners received the order copy on 14.02.2022 and since, they were suffered from Covid, they were unable to surrender, execute the bail bonds and furnish sureties before the Court concerned, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of that order i.e., on 28.02.2022. Thereby, the present petition has been filed seeking for extension of time.

4. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that the petitioner's petition in Crl.O.P.No.224 of 2021 has been ordered on 07.01.2022, with the condition to surrender before the Trial Court within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of that order. 2/4

5. Heard the learned counsel and perused the materials available on record.

6. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, time granted by this Court in Crl.O.P.No.224 of 2022 by an order dated 07.01.2022, is extended for a further period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
