Writ Petition is filed for issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents to call the Petitioner for the interview stage for selection to the post of Assistant Professor under the Backward Class category in the subject Aquaculture in the vacancies notified by the 2nd Respondent in its notification for Recruitment of Assistant Professors in Tamil Nadu Collegiate Educational Service for the Government Arts and Science Colleges, 2010 and consequently direct the 2nd Respondent to appoint the Petitioner to the post of Assistant Professor in the subject Aquaculture as the 2 / 5
Petitioner is the only eligible candidate in terms of experience and qualification out of the candidates short listed for the selection to the said post by the 2nd Respondent, under the Backward Class category in the subject Aquaculture.
2. From the counter affidavit of the first respondent, it is seen that the Board completed the recruitment process of Assistant Professors 2010 (Government Arts & Science Colleges) and finalised the selection process in 2012 and all the vacancies were also notified.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner fairly submits that, in the light of the submission made by the first respondent in the counter nothing survives for adjudication in the writ petition.
4. In view of the above submission, the writ petition is dismissed as having become infructuous.
5. The learned counsel for the petitioner requested this Court to pass a direction directing the UGC to consider a degree in Aquaculture as eligible 3 / 5
degree for TET exams.
I am of the view that no specific direction may be given at this stage. However, it goes without saying that the petitioner is at liberty to make representation in that regard if so advised.
