Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ or directiion in the nature of writ directing the respondent herein to settle a sum of Rs.1,77,307/- towards 6% interest for the belated settlementof terminal benefits to the petitioner herein, by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 28.01.2025. ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction against the respondent to pay interest at 6% per annum for the delayed payment of the retirement benefits to the petitioner.

2. The petitioner had joined the respondent transport corporation as a driver on 25.06.1995 and retired from service on 30.06.2022. The retirement benefits were settled only on 23.05.2023. The petitioner seeks interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the delayed payment of the retirement benefits.

3. The respondent may examine whether the petitioner had given any representation in this regard immediately on disbursement of the amount raising a protest. The respondent may examine the representation given on 28.01.2025 and also examine whether any reason had been given as to why the petitioner had given representation after nearly 11⁄2 years. The respondent may take a decision about the payment of interest and if they take a decision to pay interest, it shall be disbursed 2/4

within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
