O R D E R

(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) The learned Additional Advocate General submits that the encroachments have been removed and now the roads are free from encroachment, both from the vendors and the shop keepers. He further submits that a notification has been issued by the State Government formulating the Tamil Nadu Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Scheme and Rules, 2015 on 02.11.2015 and Committees have been constituted. The election for the elected members would be held on 08.07.2016 and thereafter, the process of looking out for the area of vending would further be accelerated.

2. The learned Additional Advocate General assures that the roads will be maintained properly, although the conduct of the authorities during the past does not show their intent to do so.

3. We close the contempt petition with a hope and caution of the consequences if the problem is permitted to recur again.
