O R D E R

This petition has been filed challenging the return of the copy application filed by the petitioner seeking for certified copy of the First Information Report that was registered in Cr. No.2 of 2024.

2. Heard Mr. Prakash Adiapadam, learned counsel for petitioner and Mr. A. Damodaran, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent.

3. Rule 231 of Criminal Rules of Practice provides for granting certified copy of documents. Rule 231(iii) makes it very clear that he is entitled for the copy of the First Information Report even before filing of the final report.

4. In view of the above rule, there is no reason to return the copy application filed by the petitioner, who was arrayed as an accused in this case. Therefore, the Court below shall entertain the copy application to provide certified copy of First Information Report to the petitioner.

5. In the light of the above, this Criminal Original petition is disposed of.
